If you're new to the flock, you might not realize that every market we attend, we donate 10 percent of our sales to a charity. Our mission is to give back to the community that supports us. In February, we focused on a local animal sanctuary, TevaLand; in March, we donated to World Central Kitchen's effort in Ukraine; in April, we gave to Feeding Westchester, a local foodbank; and in May, we're making it all about Luna, a two-year-old girl recently diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis, a progressive, genetic disease that causes persistent lung infections and limits the ability to breathe over time. I went to high school with Luna's mom, and when I heard of Luna's diagnosis, I was floored--as were her parents. Neither of them realized they carried the gene for Cystic Fibrosis, and they were shocked to find out that their spunky, energetic kid had this underlying condition. So this month, we're joining The Luna League, and asking our community to help support Luna in her battle against Cystic Fibrosis. Luna and her family will be walking in the Great Strides walkathon sponsored by The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation on May 22 in Tarrytown. With quarterly visits to her CF team and newly developed gene modulator therapies, Luna’s future looks bright, all thanks to the CF Foundation and its relentless pursuit of a cure.
Come out and support Luna this weekend! We'll be at the Tarrytown Farmers Market on Saturday and the Piermont Market on Sunday. We'll be donating 10 percent of our sales to their walkathon team, The Luna League, but also personally matching this donation. Their fundraising goal is $10,000, and they're just $2,000 shy of making it. Let's help them crush it.
